I invited author Traci Sanders to give us a blog post that might be of help to us Indie Authors, and here it is.
Traci Sanders is a multi-genre, multi-award-winning author of ten published titles, with contributions to three anthologies.
An avid blogger and supporter of Indie authors, she writes parenting, children's, romance, and nonfiction guides.
Her ultimate goal is to provide great stories and quality content for dedicated readers, whether through her own writing or editing works by other authors.
TIP 272: Creating calls-to-action for your books (and blogs)
This tip, and many more like it, can be found in Beyond The Book: Tips on publishing, marketing, and networking to build your brand, now available in digital and paperback format.
Beyond The Book: Tips on publishing, marketing, and networking to build your brand (Write It Right Book 2)
This tip is about creating a sense of urgency with your readers. Authors and bloggers need to establish what is known as a Call to Action. This is a statement found at the end of a writing piece, usually involving a link to more information about something. It can be effective at the end of a book, blog post, or article.
Once your readers have experienced your writing, they may be hungry for more; or, they may wish to go tell others how they feel about what they just read. This is why a call to action is important.
This is the call to action at the end of one of my books:
QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS?
My ultimate goal in writing is to tell a good story that evokes strong emotion in readers, with characters that are compelling and authentic. If you feel that I accomplished that goal in this book, I would be honored if you would share your thoughts with others on Amazon.
If you have any further questions or concerns about this book or any of my titles, feel free to email me at email@example.com.
If you haven’t already done so, be sure to check out my debut contemporary romance novella,
When Darkness Breaks
“Reviews keep authors writing!” TS
Please share your thoughts on my books at Amazon and Goodreads.
Blog posts and articles can also contain calls to action. After each article or post on your blog, your readers should be left with something to think about, answer, or share. At the bottom of each of my poems, articles, or books on my blog, there is a link which sends the reader to different posts on my blog. (I’m giving all my secrets away here, huh?)
See an example here:
“Poop Camp” – A Word With Traci
The longer a reader stays on your blog, the higher the chances are of them doing one of three things: sharing your information, buying a product, or commenting on a post or article.
I've decided to give away two prizes during this tour:
*ONE unsigned paperback copy of Before You Publish - Volume I
*ONE unsigned paperback copy of Beyond The Book - Volume II
To enter, all you have to do is email me a proof of purchase of a digital copy of either of these two books during the tour.
I will draw TWO winners total, at the end of the tour.
Please email your proof of purchase (can be a screenshot) to firstname.lastname@example.org.
